How to apply for a WITCH course

WITCH runs a number of courses to assist women in education and employment opportunities with the media/creative industries. Below are a brief outline of the courses - please look at the What we do section for more information about our courses and what we offer.

Video/Media Production Project:

Title:
Introduction to Video Production Course (stage 1)
Details:
3 days a week (Tues, Wed & Thurs)
Runs for 15 weeks,
From 9.45am - 4pm (5pm)
Accreditation:
Merseyside Open College Network
Aim:
Produce a Drama
Other:
Child-care, travel, lunch provided.
   
Title:
Further skills Course (stage 2)
Details:
3 days per week (Tues, Wed & Thurs)
From 9.45 - 4pm (5pm)
Qualification:
Merseyside Open College Network (accreditation)
Aim:
Produce a Documentary
Other:
Child-care, travel & lunch provided.
Stage 1 must be completed before proceding to stage 2.


Customised Media Placement Programme:

Title:
4 week pre-placement/induction (Stage 1)
Details:
Runs for 4 weeks.
4 days per week (Mon - Thurs)
10am - 4pm
Qualification:
Merseyside Open College Network (accreditation)
Aim:
Do a 5-10 minute presentation.
Other:
Child-care, travel and lunch provided.
   
Title:
5-10 month placement (stage 2)
Details:
Placed in media related organisations around Merseyside.
5 days per week.
Total hours per week is 30 hours.
Qualification:
NVQ in Research, Production or Administration.
Other:
Child-care & training allowance provided.
Stage 1 (4-week pre-placement) must be completed first.


Be@WITCH Programme:

Title:
Be@WITCH Business Start-up Programme.
Details:
12 month support.
Attend 10 workshops (10am-4pm).
Attend Business Advice Support Sessions (1-2 hour sessions).
Qualification:
NVQ
Aim:
Produce a Business Plan and learn skills to help business develop and grow.
Other:
Childcare and travel support provided.
Run in partnership with Blue Orchid Management Consultants.


2 Day Taster Video Workshop:

Title:
2 day basic introduction to video production
Details:
2 days, 9.45 - 4pm
Aim:
Cover basic camera, lighting, editing and scriptwriting work.
Other:
Lunch and travel expenses provided.


Outreach video courses:

Title:
6 day taster video workshops
Details:
6 days, 10am - 4pm
Aim:
Cover basic elements of video production.
Qualifications:
No accreditation.
Other:
Child-care, travel and lunch provided.
Target group:
Women from culturally diverse communities.
 
Title:
12-15 week video production course.
Details:
2 days per week, 10am - 4pm.
(days of the week to be decided)
Qualifications:
No accreditation.
Other:
Childcare, travel and lunch provided.
Target group:
Women from culturally diverse communities.


Community Mentor Projects:

Title:
Community Mentor Project.
Details:

6 day introduction to video production, followed by editing support for Community Mentors/volunteers.

Mentors to document the learning journeys/video diaries of culturally diverse men/women from the local communuty.
